Back from Family Weekend

January 19, 2010 at 6:45 am (Real Life)

Well, the family has gone home – having been visiting me in Vegas since Friday. Between a day-trip to Hollywood, visiting the Valley of Fire (highly recommended for anyone who visits), and a nights stay at Excalibur, my WoW time was zero. Some points to ponder from the weekend:

Occasionally, spending cash on a hop on-hop off tour of Hollywood is worth it. If, however, you have 3 ladies who like to shop, be prepared to hop off with a hell of a lot more than you hopped on with. Rodeo Drive experienced this way should be training for all potential grooms.

In Las Vegas, City Center has a wonderful shopping district. Bring your wallet. When a 13-year old wanders into Bottega Veneta and the saleswoman puts a bag on her arm, she’s going to fall in love with it. And remain non-plussed when she hears it is $800. And look to Daddy expecting him to bring out his wallet. Maybe for her birthday – her 30th birthday.

On a Monday holiday at 7am, the blackjack dealers are more friendly, and your fellow players are more relaxed. Everyone is just blowing through pocket money, chatting it up, and having the hair of the dog before leaving for their flights. You’ll never have as many friends as when you take your whole stack of chips and push them in for one hand – even when you still have chips in your pocket. Win or lose, leave after that hand with a smile.

Back to more regularly scheduled WoW tomorrow.
