Long Strantge Weekend

May 4, 2010 at 3:39 am (5-Mans, Achievements, Holidays, Mounts)

Well, it’s official.  Rustbeard has his Violet Proto-Drake.  Despite the fact I was working a 70 hour week, including all day Sunday (a rarity), I managed to get the four PvP requirements for [Hard Knock Life] completed by the afternoon.  Sadly with all the work this weekend, that was pretty much all I accomplished.  The week looks full, however, with a my DK tanking 10 ToC, running Rusty through 10 ToGC  and 10 ICC.  With any luck, my feisty little dwarf will have his T10 chest-piece by the end of the week.  Despite the short post, I expect to have more rants and raves later this week, both game and guild related.

One Turkey of a Holiday

November 23, 2009 at 6:14 pm (Holidays, Vanity Pets) (, )

Bugged Holidays annoy the crap out of me. I don’t really know why, because it seems every time Blizzard creates a new festival of some sort, an important part of the meta-achievement is screwed up and it takes 24-48 hours to fix. I should just expect it by now. It often becomes a time crunch for me. Given that I work out of town from my family, I’m often home over the holidays, and when I’m home, I play little if at all. So, Sunday was my day to accomplish as much as possible, but the Echo Isle server had bugs in the feasts at both Stormwind and Darnassus. Combine that with everyone hunting turkeys at the same time was a recipe for frustration. As of 4am this morning, I managed to kill enough turkeys to get the achievement, but the chairs still hadn’t been fixed with a pending server shutdown. Since I fly out very, very late tonight, I don’t expect to get back on to see if they’ve been updated properly. And I was so looking forward to vanity pet number 77. For those wondering the best turkey path for the Alliance – take the road west out of Goldshire and stick to either the north or south – kill one and start running further down the road, there’ll be one there if someone hasn’t broken the chain. Either side of the road seems to work.

Unfortunately, I let that level of frustration spill over into my Wow time in general, so I played somewhat less than I was able (which wasn’t much). Don’t get me wrong, the break was good, as I used the time to get packed and clean up a few outstanding items on my calendar that I’d been postponing. As I’ll be away, a Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Wherever you are, take a moment to count your blessings, as will I (and it’s a blessing that anyone at all reads this).
