A New Expansion, Hero Classes, and Future Factions

June 12, 2011 at 1:19 am (Uncategorized)

I was having a conversation the other day with a fellow player, as to potential hero classes and we came up with the following:

Samuari Class: A mail wearing, dps class of melee.  In some ways, similar to a rogue, with agility being a prime stat.  Two handed weapons, with perhaps a sword bonus.  Signature attack – a jumping two-handed over the head blow.  Fatal weakness: The honor-bound samuari has no way of shedding aggro.

Monk Class : Truth be told, I’d like this to be a leather wearing class – a healing/dps combo.  A staff specialist, the monk has the moves of the old street-fighting monks.  Signature healing move – Vespers – a channeled heal for big numbers.  Fatal weakness: Vespers brings a huge threat.

As to some new factions, they might fit in with the ones above.  Like BC and WotLK, you’d chose your faction to champion.  First, an japanease themed group – pagoda archatecture (perhaps with a panda motif??).  The other, a culture similar to Nepal/Mongolian – complete with Yurts.

Any thoughts on what you’d like to see out there in the future?

Welcome new reader(s)!

April 13, 2011 at 4:56 pm (Uncategorized)

I would like to give a special thanks to Beruthiel the Twisted Nether Blogcast’s Welcome Wagon for spotlighting my little home.  For those who are new, I hope you like what you see – please leave comments either way.  If there’s something you’d like to see me write about – from a Kungaloosh swilling Dwarven Hunter’s point of view, I’d be happt to give you what limited thoughts my remaining brain can generate.

Now, if you’d excuse me, I have to go back and pull more hair out: farming BC rep, crying over the 10,000 attempt at Strath without a mount, and lamenting my seemingly horrific luck with random 5-man dungeons.

New Quality of Life in 4.1 – A Fantasy List

April 1, 2011 at 4:13 pm (Professions, Uncategorized)

The latest news off of the PTR is that Bind on Account gear may finally be bound “on Account” as opposed to “on Server, on Faction” as it currently exists.  If so, this good news will join the concept of giving players 7 weekly heroic dungeons, rather than a single daily heroic.  Now, starting a character on a new server won’t be quite so difficult, and you’ll be able to reap the rewards of having a character maxed out, and putting time into farming for enough points.  At least, your chest, shoulders, and weapons – I don’t see how guild reward heirlooms could be transferred at this time.  Of course, my mind almost immediately leapt to what other items could be changed to help those of us who are “alt-heavy.”  (I don’t go to Alts Anonymous, those people admit to having a problem.)  I’m well aware that some of these require quite a bit of work, but if you’re going to have a “fantasy list” you don’t waste a pick on a girl who rates a 4 … you go for the supermodel.

Rusty’s Bar

April 23, 2010 at 3:54 am (Uncategorized)

Well, the guild finally decided to act, and devote an entire tab to Rusty’s personal need.  I’m referring to it simply as “the fridge.”

Just when you think it can’t get worse, it does.  My computer issues (failed hard drive) were immediately followed up by the need for a huge effort at work that spilled over into my personal time.  It was large enough to cut down my playtime and remove any writing time.  However, with the new changes announced in Cataclysm, I’m primed and ready to whine, bitch, and moan, as well as applaud and cheer.

But first, what have I been doing in my limited time?  Well, I moved a both Rustbeard and my original DK over to the Gorgonnash (PvP) server to join with my former guild <Prôphecy>.  Of course, this has required gearing my plate wearer up for tanking purposes, only to discover the reluctance of my guild to take a DK tank.  I’m still working on changing those perceptions.  I’ll have to build a true DPS set as well, but the future changes have me wondering if the good DK players will be held back in order to help those who can’t figure out a play style and associated talent choices – see my comments on Who Needs Shields.  In the meantime, I’m running Rusty on ICC-10 content – so hopefully look to see some achievements here soon.

Other than that, I’ve been recently working on my holy priest, moving him to Outlands with the intention of being a healer for Cataclysm – for when the guild runs into those “oh crap, we have no healers again, but an overabundance of dps” days.

** Note: Since writing this post, my Death Knight completed tanking his first raid.  ToC-10 was completed, not without difficulty (pugging healers who don’t enter vent makes things difficult).  But, might I give out a little: Woot!
